The cot, crib, cradle or pram should be the only place ever to leave an infant unattended. That’s why it must be as safe as possible without overlooking the importance of the mattress that is in it. Your baby’s mattress is a very important purchase. When buying a cot or a cot-bed mattress, it is essential that the mattress fits neatly into the cot. A gap round the sides which exceeds 4 cms (1.5 inches) could cause your baby to trap a finger or clothing with tragic results.
We promise that you can buy from us with total confidence. Take a look at our Customer comments.
A child will spend their first three to five years sleeping and playing on their cot mattress, an infant at least 70% of their time and a toddler up to 50% of their time.
It is a fact of life – babies tend to produce a nightly cocktail of sweat, saliva and possibly urine and regurgitated milk. You really need to ensure that you keep your baby's mattress itself in tip-top codition, otherwise it will become a haven for unwelcome bacteria.
Government bodies & Health officials advise the use of a new mattress with every child. A mattress you have used for a previous child, however well looked after, carries the risk of introducing your new baby to bacteria and mould. Also, an older mattress will not provide the same comfort and support that a newer one will give. This is important to bear in mind because as your child gets heavier and becomes more active the cot mattress will need to be able to cope with these changes. If buying a second hand cot you should always play safe and buy a new cot mattress whenever possible.
