Your baby’s mattress is a very important purchase. When buying a cot or a cot-bed mattress, it is essential that the mattress fits neatly into the cot. A gap round the sides which exceeds 4 cms (1.5 inches) could cause your baby to trap a finger or clothing with tragic results.

It is a fact of life – babies tend to produce a nightly cocktail of sweat, saliva and possibly urine and regurgitated milk. You really need to ensure that you keep your baby's mattress itself in tip-top codition, otherwise it will become a haven for unwelcome bacteria.

Government bodies & Health officials advise the use of a new mattress with every child. A mattress you have used for a previous child, however well looked after, carries the risk of introducing your new baby to bacteria and mould. Also, an older mattress will not provide the same comfort and support that a newer one will give.
